Welcome to Vote 2006, a sub-site to Voters World with a focus on the upcoming Nov. 7th Election, by and for the young voters in America. The goal is to provide easy to read, up to date information on the ongoing elections, candidates in the tri-state area, and current news and legislation on topics that matter most to us. The gallery includes projects done by the Graphic Design and Advtertising for Social Change class at SVA on our current campaign to encourage students to get involved and vote.

• NJ Battleground: The fight for gay rights.
  On Oct. 25, the New Jersey Supreme Court ruled in favor of treating same-sex couples with the same benefits as heterosexuals. They leave the final decision to the Legislation to make a call on the unions. Equal right advocates are split, many being pleased with the progress while others feel the Court stopped short of a true objective.

• Border Control: Great Fence of Mexico
  Oct. 26, four weeks after Congress approved of the bill, President Bush signed into law the plan to build a 700 mile fence across the southwestern border of the United States. He also continuously pushes for tighter immigration legislation which includes his spring suggestion of worker programs and legalizing citizenship for current aliens. Hispanic activists are outraged and the issue has raised heated debate across the country.
