- NJ Battleground: The fight for gay rights.
On Oct. 25, the New Jersey Supreme Court ruled in favor of treating same-sex couples with the same benefits as heterosexuals. They leave the final decision to the Legislation to make a call on the unions. Equal right advocates are split, many being pleased with the progress while others feel the Court stopped short of a true objective.

Oct. 26, four weeks after Congress approved of the bill, President Bush signed into law the plan to build a 700 mile fence across the southwestern border of the United States. He also continuously pushes for tighter immigration legislation which includes his spring suggestion of worker programs and legalizing citizenship for current aliens. Hispanic activists are outraged and the issue has raised heated debate across the country.
